Zamorano Honors Mothers who work at the Campus

What is biodiversity?

While loss of species has always occurred as a natural phenomenon, the rate of extinction has accelerated dramatically as a result of human activity. The most serious threat to biodiversity is the fragmentation, degradation and the direct loss of the various ecosystems that make up the habitat of the forms of biodiversity. How are we contributing to the conservation of biodiversity?

In April 2002, members of the Convention on Biological Diversity committed themselves to "achieve a significant reduction in the rate of biodiversity loss at global, regional and national level as a contribution to poverty alleviation and to the benefit of sustaining all life on Earth. Through links with the Convention on Biological Diversity and Netherlands Environmental Agency has trained government officials and NGOs in shaping biodiversity and the impact of the pressures that human intervention has on it.
